Bed Head

I'm not sure if this is a sign of a good nights sleep or a restless one but it sure is funny!

Memorial Day Weekend

Yeah, I'm that far behind in my posts... embarrassing. Lillian's birthday will always fall right around Memorial Day. The long weekend makes it easy to invite up the Iowa White's for the weekend.

Gramma and Grampa hosted a nice BBQ for her 2nd birthday.
We invited the local family members to come spend the day. Even Great Gramma made it down from Alexandria. It was a great gathering. It is so nice to get every one together.

Gramma made a zebra cake- notice the stripes- thanks to Pinterest.

Maren provided the entertainment as usual.

Presents!

Dad picked out a slip and slide for Lillian for her birthday. It was over 90 degrees so cold hose water and a hill made for a big hit.

Lillian got too cold.
Thank God for Grammas.

Maren couldn't get enough. Great gift, Dad.

After the little ones made it to bed the bigger ones got to paint! So fun to spend time with cousins.

Love Story

"Love Story" by Taylor Swift happens to be the favorite song of my two girls. Lilly now knows the whole last verse. I tried to capture her singing it the other day while while Maren was napping because Maren is a camera hog.

Apparently Maren woke up before we got to the end of the verse.

cowgirl

Maren got new (used) cowboy boots. They're cool golden colored ones. Lilly has grown fond of them as well. She put them on and declared in her most serious voice, "I cowboy!"
Notice she put on Maren's under ware too.

This is what I got when I said, "Lilly, show me your boots."

Adorable!

Potty Training

Oh yeah, that's the point we're at right now.

By doing cloth diapers mom gets sick of the whole diaper thing maybe quicker than those convenient disposable diapers.

So we had a discussion in ECFE about the window being 20-24 months for starting potty training. Okay! We're there. Let's go.
It didn't start well and I kept saying, "Maren was so much easier."
We had to bribe Lilly with candy.

After two weeks I am HAPPY to report that Lilly is doing amazing and no candy bribes are needed.
We even took a trip to Sam's Club today and Lilly was dry all morning and even went in the strange big potty at the store! Yay, Lilly!

Stickers

I HAD a drawer of stickers in my office. I kept the drawers closed and a yard stick down the handles. The yard stick got broken. The stickers became way too easily accessible. Lilly loves stickers. The rule became, "only on paper."

The stickers have a new home, out of arms reach of Miss Lilly.

New videos

I'm not sure I ever mentioned that my 18 month old is beyond verbal. Ok, I might have. She is just crazy ridiculous in the vocab category. Here is her latest video.

I love that laughter is contagious. I dare you to watch this and not start laughing along with them.

I am actually pretty proud of this post because that second video was taken just two days ago!! Yeah, mom!

Ah, Disney

What Disney has done for the vocabulary of my one year old is amazing.
Lilly likes Toy Story. Here she is reading a book of it.

What Little Lilly Likes

A long overdue post

Little Lilly is growing so fast! She has an unbelievable vocabulary of over 100 words at 16 months!
I know! She is really starting to show a love of books, just like here sister.
She also loves to color:

I love how she plops down on the floor, right on her belly, to go to town with her art:

Here she is in a tu-tu and beads. This girl loves her beads. She will constantly put beads on.

She likes hats. Here she is in Maren's old pumpkin hat:

She also likes to play peek-a-boo:

He he he! Peek! I just can't get enough. She is so fun.

Puppets

I couldn't believe Lilly's excitement about wearing these bath mitts around the house. When she sees a bunny she says "hippy hop"

I heard a lot of that.

If they fell off she would bring them to me and say, "help, help"

I heard a lot of that.

Something else she really gets a kick out of that I can't believe: balls. She plays with them and just screams with joy! She holds a ball up over her head and throws it straight down with gusto. So fun!

Messy

I told Maren she'd get ice cream today.
The problem I'm currently having is that Lilly wants everything that Maren has.
So we each got a vanilla shake. Maren wanted to have hers right away. I checked to see that Lilly could drink it in her car seat without tipping it too much, it looked good so we drank our shakes on the ride home. We were almost home and I asked Maren if Lilly was drinking her shake like a big girl.
She said, "no, she's not." Oh great! "She's taking the straw out and making a mess."
Sure enough, a big mess.

Notice the melty shake pool under her seat... nice. Not my best idea.

What a mess. I let her finish her shake inside in her highchair, a much easier clean up.

I knew I would have to clean up that car seat after she went to bed. Little did I know that I'd be cleaning the tub too. I gave her a bath after dinner due to this mess and she made a whole new mess. Yep, a huge poo in the tub. Gross! I can't believe it I made it this long with that never happening but I did. My streak is over. I had a long night of cleaning up. Messy.

And She's Walking

Yesterday was our last ECFE class of the school year. We were in the infant toddler room and Lilly just took off! She walked from me to the book shelf, about 5 or 6 feet! What? Wow! I'm glad Harneet saw it too or I may not have believed it. Unfortunately Dad wasn't home to help be get a video of that first day of walking but today I had help.

Here's a compilation of the videos ending in Lillian loving her lovie and Maren not to be outdone loves her blanket too.
